Rumdel Cape is committed to the principles of Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment, and its goal of encouraging participation by previously disadvantaged people in the economy of South Africa.

Rumdel Cape is a Level 1 Contributor as measured in terms of the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment scorecard. Our current level of black ownership is 20%, consisting of a 10% shareholding currently held by individuals and a 10% shareholding held by an Employee’s Trust.

The scorecard forms a crucial part of our human resources strategy, which is geared towards the training and development of operational personnel to fulfill senior management positions in future.

Training is focused both at the professional and the skills level. Our bursary scheme assists young school leavers in obtaining professional qualifications before undergoing further development in the workplace through experiential training and continued professional development. Skills training is given to our hourly paid employees to increase productivity and our capacity to deliver projects to the required standards.

Support is given to our subcontractors through mentoring, and to our suppliers through targeted procurement, which results in capacity building within the communities in which we work.
